How to set up a redirect in cPanel?

You can easily create a redirect from your cPanel hosting control panel. To do this, go to the Redirects section:

In the Redirects section, you can select the type of redirect, the domain you want to redirect, specify your own redirect path (if necessary), and select the option to redirect the www version of your domain.

The created redirect will appear at the bottom of the page, where you can remove it if necessary:

Types of redirects

Permanent 301
A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect. Applies when you no longer intend to use the original URL. This redirect is not masked, meaning your visitors will see the URL change in their browsers. This redirect is good for SEO because you can keep the search ranking of the old domain. A 301 redirect tells the search engine that the two domains belong to the same site, but all operations are moved to the new domain.

Temporary 302
302 redirects are temporary. They are also not masked, so your visitors will notice the URL change. You can use this type of redirect when your site is undergoing major maintenance.

Wild card redirect
A Wild Card redirect will redirect all files in a directory to the same filename in the redirected directory. However, you cannot use the Wild Card to redirect your main domain to another directory on your site.
